alking straight off the airplane and into London's historic Abbey Road Studios at Kanye's invitation, Lupe found himself on the set of a combined live radio and TV extravaganza starring Mr. Kanye West. Lupe goes on to explain about them hooking up: "I got the call from Kanye asking me to be a part of this incredible thing he was doing for the BBC in England. Could I come right now?...I was like 'hell, yeah, man. I am on my way!!'" With only minutes to spare, Fiasco, donning a crisp t-shirt and Nike's, jumped in front of the cameras and an invited an audience of 200 to big up on Kanye's 'Touch the Sky'.
Kanye's show was the FIRST EVER HIP-HOP PERFORMANCE at Abbey Road. The home of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and now hip-hop....more importantly Chicago hip-hop. The radio recording was for Radio 1's Zane Lowe, who broadcast the whole 9 song set live on his show. The cameras were there to record the event for Channel 4's special run of Christmas shows.
Lupe talks about the event: "It was incredible - there was a whole string section on the stage and all these insane fans in the house. All I could think of was how extreme it was to be in this room that had held incredible musicians over the years. Off the scale ...!" Not a man to ever do only one thing at a time, Lupe spent the rest of the day jamming in interviews with the top UK Dj's.
Check out the BBC site for pictures of the whole performance and an incredible live video stream. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bringsyou/kanyewest/1.shtml#jump
