Kryspy keeps on mixing it up for Chi-Town. Best known for his mixtape series “For Tha Luv Of Tha Chi,” Kryspy has always had an interest in putting his mixing skills to use over Chicago gangster rap music. “I came to doing this as a fan. At first I didn't know PsychoDrama, Triple Darkness I didn't know any of those guys. So when I first made my mixtapes it was because I liked the music. I remember there was a time I wouldn't buy anything from New York or Atlanta or any other city other than Chicago,” says DJ Kryspy. He had a cameo in Trust None ( Chicago 's first official gangster film) and had an interesting story to tell about his experience on the set. “I got killed by PsychoDrama. The funny thing about it is me and Yung Buk had some issues a long time ago. So I was kinda if'y to do that scene you know with him putting a gun to my head (laughing).” Apparently Kryspy used some PsychoDrama songs on “For Tha Luv Of Tha Chi Vol. 2” mixtape and Yung Buk still had some copyright issues from former label Suave House for the material. Buk told Kryspy he shouldn't have used the songs after the mixtape was already released, but since then they've squashed the beef.
Currently, the mix master is working on projects “For Tha Luv Of Tha Chi Vol. 3” and “Best Of Chicago Mix” along with taking on production work making his own beats. “I'm gonna put on more stuff from new groups and some of the groups that started doing things again like Quarta Ounce and all these other cats. When I do my “Best Of Chicago Mix” I'm gonna put all the classics on there PsychoDrama, Triple Darkness, Do or Die and more,” says Kryspy. As for his recent producing, he's been in talks with Triple Darkness to do some beats for them in the future. PsychoDrama and Crucial Conflict are other groups he may work with as well. Watch out for DJ Kryspy to spin his way through Chicago in 2005.
