UPCOMING CHICAGO RAP INTERVIEW!!
Back
The staff at ChiBangin.com was recently approached by Twista, Liffy Stokes & the Get Money Gang for the purpose of answering some questions regarding their past, present and future. While we at ChiBangin.com typically encourage all artists to participate in our patented Q & A sessions with our forum members, this was not feasible due to time restraints with Twista and his clique. In an effort to avoid having our members and supporters miss out on an exclusive interview with these Chi-Town pioneers, we conducted an on-the-spot interview that will hopefully shed some light on the whereabouts of the Speedknot Mobstaz. We appreciate Twista & Liffy Stokes' time and interest in reaching out to their most dedicated fans here at ChiBangin.com.
Q:
Get Money Gang is getting ready to release it's debut mixtape for the record label as well as the Speedknot Mobstaz album. What other Chicago artists will be featured on the mixtape and album, as well as your label itself?
A: Twista: On the mix-tape its just the Get Money Gang family, Mello Tha Gutta man and Skooda Tha Chose. Just strictly tha mob.
Liffy Stokes: As far as the album (Mobstability II Nation Bizness), we're working with Jim Jones, of course Twista, Tha Get Money Gang Family and we're working on Shawna as well. Its basically just a Chicago thing with the exception of Jim Jones.
Q: Does the mixtape contain industry beats or original beats and songs?
A:
Twista: It actually does both. We got a lotta stuff working.
Liffy Stokes: Toxic and Tight Mike got a lotta remixes of industry stuff that is out there that we remade.
Q: How did the new deal with Koch Records come about?
A:
Liffy Stokes: Basically we were in negotiations with a lot of labels and Koch came at us with a nice two album deal and we did like Dip Set did with they thing. Juelz dropped two albums on Koch and went to the majors and got a big check and got a chance to expand his audience and that's what we're trying to do here.
Q: Much of the new Speedknot Mobstaz album, Mobstability II: Nation Bizness is said to be produced by China White. Would this be both Toxic and Cayex Illah together again?
A: Twista: Cayex isn't with the mob or Toxic anymore, but we got Toxic on the joint and we got another producer, Tight Mike.
Liffy Stokes: He did joints for Twista on "The Day After" and "Kamikazi".
Q: On the original Mobstability album, Twista was a member of the group. On the new Mobstaz album what made you decide to make the group a duo instead of a trio?
A: Twista: I'm still apart of the group. I'm on like half the album, but its time for Liffy Stokes and Mayz to come out and bubble.
Liffy Stokes: On this we wanted to feature us a little more.
Q:
Chicago fans are aware that the Speedknot Mobstaz crew was once substantially larger. Who were all the original Chicago artists that once made up Speedknot Mobstaz?
A: Twista: Its hard to name every body.
Liffy Stokes: We were like 50 deep at first. The Mob consisted of Turtle Banxx, Mark Boogie who is in jail for murder, The Dynasty, Qualo, Ice Man, Sand Man, Mayz, and myself Liffy.
Q:
What caused the Speedknot Mobstaz to break from Atlantic Records?
A: Liffy Stokes: It was just a business decision. We were getting off of CWAL and the main focus was to get Twista off of there (Atlantic) and after Twista it was the best decision for us all. We just needed to get more money. So when we crushed that deal and needed more money and they was actin' funny with tha paper we had to do what we had to do.
Q:
Some ex members of the Legit Ballin family seem to be actively pursuing what many would consider a slanderous campaign. With both of you having once been head figures within the Legit Ballin company, what do you attribute this backlash to?
A:
Liffy Stokes: Niggas trying to goal tend that little paper, but I don't really want to talk about that shit in the past …Fuck them niggas.
Twista: I'm just gonna focus on the Get Money Gang. Legit Ballin is Legit Ballin... just is what it is.
Q:
Along with the Speedknot Mobstaz, Crucial Conflict released their first official album in nearly a decade, do you foresee the possibility of a re-emergence of the classic Chicago sound of the '90's?
A:
Twista: I can't speak for Crucial, but I can speak for the mob … We definitely bringing the classic sound back.
Liffy Stokes: When we dropped "Mobstability" in '98 we talked about what was going on in '98. Now its 2008 we talking about whats going on in '08. Things change. We aint space ballin'. We talking bout how we on the block. How we hurtin', problems, etc.
Speedknot Mobstaz final words:
Shout outs to ChiBangin.com, The Mob, Angel the Money Magnet, Kandyman, and the Whole Get Money Gang Family … Church!
