Q: How did Psycho Drama come together? For example, how did y'all meet each other? (*C-Stylez)
A: (Group) We attended the same youth center (ABC). We used to ride around in Chalonda red Cherokee all day smokin, drinkin, singin, rappin just makin up shit. Buk was in Do or Die and him and Psyde had a two-some that me and Chalonda used to sing and rap on they shit all the time. It literally just formed together on it's own, we never planned it or anything.
Q: How did you come up with the name PsychoDrama? (*Believer)
A: (Group) We finished making the Magic EP and realized we didn't have a name for the group. We needed to name the EP so Psyde said fuck it name it PsychoDrama, (originally the name of a 9 page rap by Buk and Speedknot Mobsta originator, SandMan). We was like fuck it. The name of the album was
PsychoDrama and since we didn't have a group name, everybody else thought our group name was PsychoDrama, so after a while we was like, fuck it, I guess our name is PsychoDrama. Yall gotta understand, we were young, slangin, had papa and access to Trax's studio. We were fuckin around on some love shit. It was when everybody else started taking us seriously we began to be like, damn we should gone get down for real.
Q: Newsense, where did you grow up and what was it like? (*Face97)
A: I grew up on Grenshaw & Central Park with the Travelers. It was fun cuz it was a lot of us and we always stuck up for each other no matter what. We had three full blocks full of children that fought other blocks, then I moved in Holy City to Cermak & Hamlin with the C's and though I was a Traveler, they had lots of respect for me bein a female with so much respect on the streets. Niggas in the industry act funky with ya cuz most of em fags that don't know shit bout the streets so the do they math wrong when it come to real bitches like me. The streets KNOW! And I get the fullest respect in the streets that's why I am never shamed to say I'm from the streets. Now I'm back in Holy City with My Soul niggas. UNIVERSAL wit an
extra planet!
Q: Psyde, describe us a typical day in your life.. (*Face97)
A: Wakin up, thankin God, and the rest of the day, I focus on one thing: What the hell I gotta do today to not only push toward our success, not only for Drama, but for Chi as a whole cause not a nan notha mothafucka that done so called did some shit, actually use that to benefit Chicago as a whole. We ain't on that selfish shit and it's probably cuz we know we raw and we gone hold our own no matter who else got some shit out.
Q: How did you end up signing with CWAL? (*supp) Why so long to finally sign to where your home originally always has been? (*Daowl) What led you to sign to CWAL? (*silva)
A: (Group) See, the misunderstanding is that we did not sign with CWAL. We have entered into a collaborative agreement with Legendary Inc.(Trax), that basically says that we four raw ass niggas from the Chi that nobody can fuck wit as a team. We know this now where da money at? We use Traxter Inc. as a vessel so that when distributors want the next hot shit, they know to come to Traxter Inc. and we'll deliver the goods. Trax is prepared to fuck with any of the hot shit comin out of the Chi that we can push through as a unit and create the biggest production company in the MidWest region, as long as they got they shit together. He's a great producer and businessman and as a team, we know we can pull off the greatest Chicago unity shit ever.
Q: Who are your influences? (*dynamite) Who were your Hip Hop inspirations and how did your styles evolve the way they did? (*Cairo)
A: (Newsense) My big brother, Tony Redd, ScarFace, my group of course and damn anybody that was black in the '50s, '60s and '70s who pushed their way through white world. I don't really listen to mainstream rap nowadays because I feel it lacks substance and its kinda childish and superficial for me. It
allows me to stay grounded in my own thoughts and feelings that I may send a visual picture of my lyrics to the listener.
Q: What's your favorite song you did as a group? (*steve)
A: (Newsense) It was "Time vs Life" and it still may be, but this new joint on "Too Much For the Industry To Handle" (Our new album wit Trax) called "BYE." OOOOOH nigga, that's that number. It shows how versitile we could be. We all love rock and that's our rock ballad.
Q: Do y'all sometimes surprise and amaze each other with your lyrics? (*smokeindacitystl) How has the many years in the game effected the way ya'll write? (*MainTain)
A: (Newsense) Yep, we all shock ourselves more than we shock each other. Sometimes it takes us a while to realize what WE said cuz we still be snappin on what each other said. Sometimes I don't listen to my lyrics till a fuckin year after I wrote and laid it. I be like damn, I said that shit? We get better at time cuz we do this shit.
Q: How did you hook up with 8 Ball? (*Believer)
A: (Psyde) Being signed with Suave House we had no choice, but all them niggaz at Suave still treat us like family. Matta fact we still go down to Memphis and visit JG and we still do shit together on some underground shit.
Q: Any plans to work with T mix again? (*smokendacitystl)
A: (Group) Hell yeah, we talk to Mix all the time and hes busy with Cash Money now. But he got shit ready for us already. We keep in touch wit all our niggas.
Q: What do you all think about Trax's (Legendary Traxster) song New York remix? (*meanmug)
A: (Newsense) Tell the truth and shame the devil!
Q: There is a big conflict on here about Twista and Kanye what are your guys' true feelings about them and what they have done? (*chicago2642)
A: (Newsense) We got nothin but love fo them niggas and we are glad to see them happy. They been working a long time, especially Twista, and you get out what you put in. They deserve everything they're getting now and we support them 100%.
Q: What happened to the whole DramaWard thing, are you still cool with them? (*ktownpop187)
A: (Group) Hell yeah. Understand DramaWard is a real family. Brothers and sisters. Not a crew of rappers. Call each other momma, papa and shit. Babysit the kids and family dinner type shit. Never goin nowhere. If rap died tomorrow, DramaWard will still exist.
Q: Exactly who are all the members of your clique The Drama Ward? (*dynamite)
A: (Group) PsychoDrama, Triple Darkness, Crookx, G-Ball, D-Fly, Tony Redd, HydroTherapy Outside, Alyzae, Qualo and Snypaz (Affiliated) M.A.T.s cru, LaGic 'El the Saint, Color One, Mr. Ricks Airbrushing and Art Squad, Trax, our ride or die White Boy Squad from the Hunneds[Wild 100's] (Tone, Dub, CT), Rock T, and a gang of Travelers, Cs, 4s, Breeds, GDs, Stones, Kings, Mafias, Souls and regular real ass street niggas that believe in our cause. Our cause is to correct the misrepresentations in the industry that niggas before us has made and let these niggas know what time it really is when a mothafucka say Chicago.
Q: Do some of the Drama Ward members ever battle each other or other rappers? Who usually wins? (*D-Maabsta)
A: (Group) Hell yeah, that's how we challenge each other. Just like when we do a Ward song, if somebody else shit rawer than yours or have more substance, it'll send you back to the table like its supposed to do. One way or the other, the Ward wins.
Q: Is their going to be another Drama Ward album coming out?
(*D-Maabsta)
A: (Group) Yes sir. We ain't gone stop doin shit. we so real with this underground shit we probably got bout 2 or 3 shits you didn't know was out. Keep eyes and ears open. We got yall, fam.
Q: When are you going to do something with Hydro Therapy? (*concrete)
A: (Group) They are out of town at different colleges. Their education is so important, they are our youngest and next generation so they HAVE to stay well-educated.
Q: Time Vs. Life got a lot of mixed reviews, what are your thoughts on the album? (*Chitownplayer)
A: (Group) That was just our way of letting the world know We do it ALL. Some people wanted to hear gangsta, gangsta, gangsta, hard, hard, but we are highly talented and we knew we had to show the rest of these folks that we can go hard, we sing, we do rock and alternative. See fam, our goal is not just to please Chi, or street niggas, we worldwide niggas so we have a worldwide audience and when we make this worldwide chedda, and do what's supposed to be done in Chicago, then they'll get a better picture of why Time Vs Life was mandatory. We already knew street niggas wasn't gone like it, but we knew we could do some of dat grimy shit, any time wit our eyes closed and hands tied behind our backs cuz that's who we are. We needed to be challenged and TVL (get it?) challenged that. Time Vs Life = TVL Do the math. RIP MugShot!
